Hervé Hubert-Yves Lavandier was a French composer and music producer known for his work in animated television and film. He gained recognition for his expressive, orchestral scoring style, particularly in dialogue-light productions where music played a central narrative role.
Hervé Lavandier was born in Bondy, France, on May 8, 1960. While detailed records of his early training are limited, his later work reflects a strong grounding in classical composition and orchestration.
Lavandier’s professional career spanned from 1983 to 2013. During this time, he contributed to a variety of French and international productions, particularly in animation. He is best known for his work on Oggy and the Cockroaches (1997), where his music played a central role in storytelling due to the show’s minimal dialogue. His compositions helped define the pacing, humor, and emotional tone of the series. In addition to this, Lavandier worked on several other notable projects: * Highlander: The Animated Series (1994) - contributing to the musical identity of the action-adventure adaptation. * Space Goofs (1997) - co-composed with Ramon Pipin, blending comedic and science fiction elements. * Ratz (2003) - featuring energetic, character-driven scoring. * The Daltons (2010) - continuing his work in comedic animation.

Autopsy later revealed that he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in December 2023. According to the doctors, he died from a respiratory failure in his lungs, which led to a panic attack. It has been revealed that Lavandier was the most remembered music composer in France, along with Hugues Le Bars.
