Biography

Edgar Larrazábal is an animator, storyboard artist, timing director, animation director, and occasional director best known for his work as animation director on early episodes of the animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants. During his tenure at Nickelodeon, Larrazábal served as animation director for multiple episodes in the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, including "Ripped Pants," "Plankton!," "Hall Monitor," "Culture Shock," "Sleepy Time," and "Suds," as well as early second-season episodes such as "Something Smells," "Dying for Pie," and "Squidville." He collaborated with crew members including storyboard artists Aaron Springer and C.H. Greenblatt during this period. Larrazábal was replaced as animation director beginning with the episode "Shanghaied" in mid-season 2. He also contributed storyboards to SpongeBob SquarePants video games developed by WayForward Technologies in 2008. Larrazábal received an Annie Award nomination from Nickelodeon for his work on the episode "Tea at the Treedome," though he was initially credited and later corrected as animation director for that episode. Beyond SpongeBob SquarePants, he has held various production roles on other animated series, including storyboard for Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, CatDog, and Angry Beavers, as well as timing director positions on Adventure Time and Clarence at Cartoon Network.
