- Lewis Lapham is the only journalist who was present during the Beatles trip to Rishikesh, India in February 1968. The reason for the trip was to attend a training session in transcendental meditation at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Lapham representing his employer, The Saturday Evening Post attended the event as a paid guest. Lewis wrote of his experience in the book "With the Beatles".
