Jerry Lanning was born on May 17, 1943 in Miami, Florida, USA. He is an actor, known for Another World (1964), Damn Yankees! (1967) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999). He was previously married to Sherry Mathis.

On Search for Tomorrow (1951), while playing hit man "Nick D'Antoni", he choked Sherry Mathis so hard, she literally turned blue. A week later, they were married in real life.

Has had a Broadway career spanning more than 30 years performing in 8 productions from the original production of "Mame" (Patrick Dennis, age 19-29) in 1966 continuing through the revival of "1776" (Rev. John Witherspoon) in 1997.

Son of Roberta Sherwood and Don Lanning.

In 2013 while performing as Eugene O'Neill in the stage play "And Give Us The Shadows", he fainted on stage - in character - from dehydration. He said his line "I can barely walk" and then said "I'm very sorry; I'm going to faint now." and fell slowly to the floor.
