Biography

Philip Langridge was born on December 16, 1939 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Great Performances (1971), Le nozze di Figaro (2006) and Idomeneo (1983). He was married to Ann Murray. He died on March 5, 2010 in Guildford, Surrey, England, UK.

He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1994 Queen's Honours List for his services to Opera Music.

He started out as an orchestral violinist, before making his professional operatic debut at the Glyndebourne Festival in 1964.
