The issue of her involvement in her mother's books has been hotly debated in recent years. While some claim she edited and restructured them to such an extent that she basically wrote them herself, and thus was the "ghost-writer," others say her editing and re-structuring was relatively cursory, and that the books were essentially her mother's. Still, others say both worked together on them in an intense and consuming collaborative process.
