Tall, lean American actor with photographic model looks Geoffrey Land was a staple of schlock horror auteur Al Adamson’s films in the 1970s beginning with a key supporting role in the cult favourite girl gang western ‘The Female Bunch’ (1971, filmed in 1969) before progressing onto co-starring duties in the similarly female dominated ‘Jessi’s Girls’ (1975) and a sympathetic physician in Adamson’s tale of possession ‘Nurse Sherri’ (1977). He also played the lead role in the re-packaged horror hack-job ‘Dr Dracula’ (1978) for Adamson - his final film to date - but perhaps his signature performance was starring in the wonderfully idiosyncratic crime comedy ‘Redneck Miller’ (1976) playing a womanising radio deejay who gives as good as he gets when he’s accused by dope dealers of raiding their crop. Despite his film career having drawn to a close by the end of the decade, Land popped up again almost forty years later with the belated release of Orson Welles’ previously unfinished film ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ (2018) for which he filmed his scene as a fictional film producer in the early seventies.
