Biography

Pascal Lamorisse was born 1950, in Paris, France. He is an actor and film restorer. Pascal appeared as the boy chasing a red balloon through the streets and alleys of Ménilmontant, the 20th arrondissement (borough) of Paris, in the world famous short film The Red Balloon (1956). Directed by his father, Albert Lamorisse (1922-1970), and acting with one of his sisters, Sabine Lamorisse, the little girl with the blue balloon. Pascal described the participation in the 34 minutes film as pure magic. The Red Balloon (1956) received the short film award in Cannes and an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Pascal Lamorisse appeared in two more of his father's productions. After his father was tragically killed in a helicopter crash while shooting a documentary near Teheran, Iran, in 1970, Pascal decided to devote his life to his father's mission. He took the lead of his father's film company Films Montsouris and began the long process of restoring the films in its library. The films' popularity persists and are still screened all over the world.
