Biography

Producer-director-screenwriter Gregory Lamberson was part of New York City's independent horror film scene of the 1980s and is one of the founders of Buffalo's growing film community. He is member of the Producers Guild of America as well as International Thriller Writers. He has directed 10 features and is the author of 15 books, including 12 novels and the instructional textbook "Cheap Scares: Low Budget Horror Filmmakers Share Their Secrets." He freelances as a screenwriter and in different production capacities. His own films have won numerous film festival awards and he received NCCC Film and Animation Festival's Filmmaker of the Year award in 2017, Shawna Shea Film Festival's William C. Gerrity Award in 2019, and AMT International Film Festival's Best Producer award in 2025. Lamberson is the founding director of the long running film festival Amazing Fantasy Fest in Buffalo and recently launched Empire State Film Festival in Ithaca. He is the Executive Director of Cinema Arts Collaborative, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to growing the film community in Western New York, and taught screenwriting for two years at University at Buffalo. Fangoria magazine called him "the busiest man in horror."
