Biography

Jean Lacouture was born on June 9, 1921 in Bordeaux, Gironde, France. He was a writer and director, known for Far from Vietnam (1967), Un comédien lit un auteur (1979) and Leclerc le libérateur (1994). He was married to Simonne Miollan. He died on July 16, 2015 in Roussillon, Vaucluse, France.

Famous journalist at 'Le Monde',apart from political articles, he was also a sports reporter for them on rugby. He became a respected biographer of Charles de Gaulle, François Mitterrand,François Mauriac and others and in total he wrote 71 books. He founded and managed at Seuil editors in Paris 2 collections: 'L'histoire immédiate" and "La Traversée du siècle".
