- When Antone de Saint-Exupéry was about to leave Vichy to go to America during WW2, he had to go to Paris to collect some papers. He accepted a ride (this was his last visit to Paris) from Drieu La Rochelle, not knowing the latter was one of the most notorious French literary collaborators with the German invaders. Drieu La Rochelle eventually became so compromised by his association with the fascists that he committed suicide rather than submit to the (often rough) justice being handed out to collaborators at the end of the war.
