  • Erich Kästner was born on February 23, 1899 in Dresden, Germany. He was a writer and actor, known for The Parent Trap (1961), The Parent Trap (1998) and Das doppelte Lottchen (1950). He died on July 29, 1974 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany.

  • Poet, satirist, screenwriter and author of children's books, the son of a saddle maker. His best-known works were the oft-filmed "Emil and the Detectives" and "The Parent Trap".
  • Served in an artillery company in World War I. His experiences during that time made him a staunch pacifist for the rest of his life.
  • German poet and writer, not to be mixed with his name-twin Erich Kaestner (1911-2005) the award-winning camera design pioneer.
