Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Machiko Kyô was born on 25 March 1924 in Osaka, Japan. She was an actress, known for Rashomon (1950), Ugetsu (1953) and The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956). She died on 12 May 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2017 received a lifetime achievement award at the Japan Academy Prize ceremony.

Was a dancer at the OSSK (Shouchiku, Shoujo Kageki of Osaka) before
joining the DAIEI film company in 1949.

She was the last surviving cast member of &#39;Rashomon&#39;.

Adopted Machiko Kyo as her stage name when she entered the Osaka Shochiku Kagekidan in 1936 at age 12.

She was a drinking buddy of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0619211/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Masaichi Nagata</a>.
