- Injured his left hand during the filming of the Rammstein: Engel (1997) music video. He initially received a puncture wound to the hand, caused by a stray nail, during a scene where the band members were supposed to jump up a wall. As they were being filmed that very moment, Richard opted to hold on to the nail and pull himself up on it as if nothing had happened, further aggravating the injury, which left a large permanent scar.
- Sometime in 2001 he moved from Berlin to New York where he now resides.
