Ilya Kopalin was born on 2 August 1900 in village Pavlovskaya, Zvenigorod uyezd, Moscow Governorate, Russian Empire [now Istrinsky District, Moscow Oblast, Russia]. He was a director and writer, known for Na Dunae (1940), Osvobozhdennaya Chekhoslovakiya (1945) and Moscow Strikes Back (1942). He died on 12 June 1976 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia].
