- When playing supporting roles in comedies, he was often typecast in portraying overly strict, overly domineering, or overly conservative fathers and father figures. When portraying the main character instead, he was often typecast in portraying middle-aged playboys, hedonistic womanizers, aspiring con-artists, and gamblers.
