Biography

Komitas was born on October 8, 1869 in Kütahya, Ottoman Empire [now Turkey]. Komitas was a composer, known for The Promise (2016), Cheshme (1972) and Alter Ego (2016). Komitas died on October 21, 1935 in Paris, France.

The most important Armenian composer whose music is heard in Mikhail Vartanov's "The Color of Armenian Soil" Paradjanov: The Color of Armenian Land (1969) which features the first appearance on film of Sergei Parajanov; both Komitas and Parajanov are buried at the Pantheon in Armenia's capital
