Biography

Juliane Koepcke was born on October 10, 1954 in Lima, Peru. She is a writer, known for Miracles Still Happen (1974), Planet Wissen (2002) and Kölner Treff (1976). She is married to Erich Diller.

When she was seventeen years old, she was the sole survivor of a plane crash in the Amazon jungle on Christmas Eve 1971 and survived eleven days on her own until finding civilization.

[2010] I had nightmares for a long time, for years, and of course the grief about my mother's death and that of the other people came back again and again. The thought "Why was I the only survivor?" haunts me. It always will.
