- Melanie Holmes is a writer whose work explores how families organize around suffering, what gets passed down without permission, and what we owe the people we love. Her psychoanalytic training and Master's in Clinical Psychology shape her writing, and a love of dark humor runs through it.
She is the co-author of "Behind Happy Faces," a book on mental health that became curriculum at Ivy League schools. She also wrote, produced, and directed "Face the Issue," an animated PSA series on mental health.
Her work has been recognized by the Sundance Institute and the PRISM Awards. She studied at NYU and the University of Colorado, Boulder, and studies screenwriting with Pilar Alessandra and the Joan Scheckel Filmmaking Labs.
Melanie lives with (in order of importance) her dogs Mary and Sampson, her kids and her husband. When not working, she delights in psychoanalyzing the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and her dogs.
