Ad Knippels

In 1997, Ad Knippels graduated from the Amsterdam School of the Arts, after which he appeared in a wide variety of theatre productions. He was nominated for a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award for his roles in Fun Home, Anastasia, and Come From Away, and received the award for his role in Spring Awakening. He has performed in musicals such as Eiffel (Gustave Eiffel), The Sound of Music (Captain Von Trapp), Falsettos, Ciske de Rat, The Bridges of Madison County, Mamma Mia!, and The Full Monty.
In theatre, Ad has performed in classical plays such as Midzomernachtsdroom, Gijsbrecht van Aemstel, and Ivanov, as well as contemporary productions including Onder de Rook van de Hoogovens and Zullen we het liefde noemen. In 2025, he appeared in Aan de Toog in a leading role. In 2024, he performed in the musical spectacle 1830.
He has appeared in films such as De Veroordeling, Lucia de B., De Helleveeg, Knielen op een Bed Violen, Riphagen, Lepel, Alles is Liefde, and De Storm. On television, he has appeared in series including Klem, Hoogvliegers, Meisje van Plezier, Baantjer, Flikken Maastricht, Flikken Rotterdam, Dokter Tinus, Moordvrouw, A’dam-E.V.A., and La Famiglia. In recent years, he has also appeared in the drama series Nemesis, Rampvlucht, Judas II: Dagboek van een Getuige, Máxima, and Blind Sherlocks.
In addition to his acting work, Ad is also active as a voice actor and acting coach.
