Biography

Gerhard Klingenberg was born on May 11, 1929 in Vienna, Austria. He was a director and writer, known for In der Sache J. Robert Oppenheimer (1964), Was wäre, wenn...? (1960) and Guten Tag, lieber Tag (1961). He was married to Hedi Marek. He died on June 18, 2024 in Villach, Carinthia, Austria.

Father of director Reinhard Schwabenitzky.

Trained for acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar and took further studies in directing and drama at the Vienna Conservatory.

Manager of the Burgtheater in Vienna from from 1971 to 1976. Theatre manager of the Schauspielhaus Zürich from 1977 to 1982.
