In 1967, the blonde actress became known to a wide audience through her title role in the Soviet fairy tale film The Snow Queen. Her last film appearance was in Tchaikovsky's opera (1970).

In the mid-1970s, she was baptized and married Igor Klimov. They divorced two years later, and in 1981, she married the theater and film actor Vladimir Zamansky.

After finishing school, Natalya Klimova initially attended a construction institute, but after a year she switched to the acting school of the Moscow Art Theatre.

In the 1990s, Klimova ended her stage career due to tuberculosis. According to her own account, she also suffered from mental health problems at times and was under the care of the renowned psychiatrist Dmitri Yevgenyevich Melekhov.

She was buried on February 27 on the grounds of the Holy Resurrection Convent in Murom.
