Mladen Kiselov was born on June 11,1943 in Ruse, Bulgaria . He graduated in "theater directing" in the class of Anatoly Efros in State Theater Institute in Moscow in 1968. He debuted with the staging of "The House of Bernarda Alba" by Lorca in Plovdiv Drama Theatre (1968). He worked in dramatic theaters in Plovdiv (1968), Kardzhali (1968- 1970), Burgas (1970- 1971), National Youth Theatre (1971- 1977 ), the State Theatre of Satire (1977- 1982 (as artistic director), National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" ( 1983 - 1991). He was the Deputy General Artistic Chief of the National Palace of Culture (1983-1991).He worked as a guest in " Theater 199 ", National Palace of Culture, Drama and Music Theatre in Veliko Tarnovo, Drama Theatre in Shumen, Drama Theatre in Pernik , New Drama Theatre "Tears and Laughter", Drama Theatre in Ruse, Drama Theatre in Sliven and others. He was an Assistant Professor in the classes of Professor Zhelcho Mandadjiev and Professor Christo Christov in National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria. Since1991 he worked in the US as an educator and director. He lectured at Yale University , New Haven , Connecticut (1981-1982). He taught "directing and acting" at Drama School of the University "Carnegie Mellon" in Pittsburgh (1991). He was involved with productions of the Theatre of Nations ( Amsterdam , Warsaw , Sofia ); in international theater festivals in Belgrade , Berlin and others. He has won national and international awards and state honors. He died on October 29, 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
