Left the film business in 1983. He got into the jewelry business and started his own company, Artistic. As of 2014 he is still in the jewelry business.

Nephew is producer Saqib Khan and writer Ilaham (children of brother Iqbal Khan).

Shelved film 'Meri Kishti' (1976) was actually made under 'Zindagi Aur Toofan' name, released in 1975.

Amit Khanna was directing a film titled "Naya Johnny" in 1974, starring Sanjeev Kumar,Hema Malini,Sanjeev Kumar (Later replaced by Shammi Kapoor),Sajid Khan,Tina Munium,Kajal Kiran, Girish Karnad, Om Shivpuri, Amjad Khan. The film got endlessly delayed. Hema Malini opted out and the original producer left the film. Sanjeev Kumar was replaced by Shammi Kapoor. Dev Anand stepped in and decided to produce it and Amit Khanna became the director. Hema Malini' s role went to Salma Agha ,who recorded some songs in her own voice. The film was 90% complete but got shelved for undisclosed reasons.

Sister-in-law is Saeeda (sister of Dilip Kumar). She married his brother Iqbal Khan.

KIm's debut film was to be Awaara Zindagi opposite Sajid Khan. The film was shelved after a few reels were shot.
