- Children by Joan Yarde-Buller: Karim Al-Husayni (b. 13 December 1936), Amyn Muhammad (b. 12 September 1937). Because of his antics, including his very public affair with Gene Tierney, his father nominated Karim to succeed him. On 11 July 1957, Karim became Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims.

Khan from April 17 until April 20, 1935, at the Hotel Ritz, Paris, France.
- On May 12, 1960, en route to a dinner party in his Lancia sports car, he collided head-on with another car. Bettina was beside him, & his chauffeur was in back. Shortly before midnight, he died at age 48 in a Paris hospital. The other two survived. Was interred in the grounds of the Chateau de l'Horizon, where a grave was dug in the lawn by the side of his study.
