- Yvonne Keuls was born on December 17, 1931 in Batavia, Dutch East Indies. She was a writer, known for Jan Rap en z'n maat (1989), De kleine zielen (1969) and Klaaglied om Agnes (1975). She was married to Rob Keuls. She died on November 16, 2025 in The Hague, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.

- Trained as a teacher and worked at a primary school in the Schilderswijk neighborhood of The Hague.
- At thirteen, she contracted tuberculosis, which landed her in a sanatorium.
- Her father-in-law, Aat, was transported by Japan in 1943 along with about a thousand other prisoners of war performed forced labor on the island of Seram.
- After marrying at 22, she stopped working because she was required to do so. Because she was no longer allowed to work, she started writing.
- At the end of the 1930s, the family moved to the Netherlands. Her father died when she was twelve.
