Biography

Ruth Kettlewell was born on April 12, 1913 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England, UK. She was an actress, known for No Blade of Grass (1970), Dominic (1976) and All Gas and Gaiters (1966). She was married to Rev Robert Kettlewell. She died on July 17, 2007 in London, England, UK.

British character actress who began in repertory theater (Windsor Repertory) and later pursued West End theatre roles in the late 50s before arriving in films in mid-life and playing old hag types.

Served in the Woman's Land Army during WWII. Her husband, The Rev. Robert Kettlewell, died as a result of scarlet fever contracted while on active service.

Once played Mrs. Paroo opposite Van Johnson in a London production of "The Music Man". Also played in "The Killing of Sister George" in England.

Second daughter and youngest child of the Rev. and Mrs B. A. Berry, and the niece of the author Lieutenant-Colonel W. P. Drury. Was educated at Casterton School before studying art in college.

Founded "The St. Augustine's Players" church-based theatrical group, for which she remained dedicated for most of her remaining life.
