Biography

As a highly sought after DP in the entertainment industry, Rolf Kestermann's commercial clients include Revlon, Calvin Klein, Maybelline, Buick, Cadillac, Estée Lauder, and L'Oreal. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Nelly Furtado, The Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Chris Isaak and Julianne Moore.

Documentaries, film, commercials and music videos have all provided canvases upon which he has created his unique visions. Rolf revels in the pursuit of the light, chasing the sun's glint through all settings and translating emotional states into a unique visual presentation. He believes that the camera's motion breaks all barriers. Driven to explore his chosen craft across all mediums, Rolf has collaborated in a staggering diversity of projects, such as his new media work on the "Yes I Can" video for the Obama presidential campaign, which featured Scarlett Johanssen and Will.I.Am and was honored with an Emmy for New Approaches in Daytime Entertainment. Rolf is also know for his work in fashion and beauty. He has lensed Halle Berry for Revlon, Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifah, and Drew Barrymore for Covergirl, and Rachel Weisz, Resse Witherspoon, and Renne Zellweger for other major campaigns.

Rolf's award history includes MTV's Best Cinematography Award, Kodak's Lifetime Achievement Award, Cannes Silver Lion, and numerous medals from NewYork's International Film and Television Festivals.

Born in Germany and schooled in Switzerland, Rolf studied art in Paris at the Beaux Arts and at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design.
