- One of the most popular post-war character actors of German-speaking screen and television, with a penchant for playing authority figures and gentlemen. The Austrian-born actor was also much in demand as a voice-over artist. Kerst began his acting career at the Vienna Burgtheater and was still performing on stage at the age of 84.
