Sylva's third book, Rwanda, Rwanda! A Journey to the Land of a Thousand Hills was published in 2024. Her memoir, GOD SPELLED BACKWARDS: The Journey of an Actress into the World of Dog Rescue, is a 2016 Book Excellence Award Winner, a 2015 Global Ebook Award memoir winner and a memoir finalist in the 2015 Beverly Hills Book Awards. Her children's book, THE DOLPHIN PRINCESS, is a 2015 winner of The Beverly Hills Book Award for children's fiction and a 2015 Global Ebook Award winner for children's literature fiction and a CIPA Award Winner for Children's Story books. As well as numerous television and film roles, Sylva has appeared off-broadway and her last stage role in Los Angeles was as Jessie in the pulitzer prize winning play 'night, Mother. Charles Mcnulty from the Los Angeles Times said: Kelegian's dead-eyed determination is the reason to see this revival of Norman's play. Kelegian's portrayal is all the more wrenching for its refusal to ask for sympathy. Jessie sees suicide as an existential act of freedom; we experience it as tragedy.

Her mother was a dancer with American Ballet Theatre and her father a pianist at The Metropolitan Opera House. Her stepfather was a Captain in the Coast Guard.
She spent three years of her childhood on Anna Maria Island, two years on Guam, and traveled to the Phillipines, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia in her teens.
She is half Armenian and a combination of English, Danish and French.
Her grandmother, Catherine Brinker Lee, was a radio actress who married Manfred B. Lee, one of the writers of the "Ellery Queen" mystery books.
She has a twin named Heidi.
