Glen Keane's father is Bil Keane, creator of the newspaper comic The Family Circus, and the child Billy is based on Glen himself.

Father of Claire Keane, a visual development artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Max Keane, a computer graphics artist. He has two grandchildren.

His first job as a supervising animator was for the bear in The Fox and the Hound (1981). He collaborated on the climactic finale with John Lasseter.

Appeared as part of a cast/crew panel discussion at the premiere of a revival/promotional screening of the 1989 Disney classic 'The Little Mermaid' at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California on September 7th, 2006. (September 2006)
