Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Nancy O'Brien is an American actress, director, producer, and writer who resides in Los Angeles, CA. She primarily focuses on making horror shorts and features for her production company, DARK REVENANT FILMS. Her successful directorial debut is the comedy/horror "HAIRBALL" followed by the horror/mystery thriller, "CABIN". Both films are doing well in the festival circuit. In addition to making films through her production company, Nancy is also collaborating with other filmmakers within the genre.

Nancy grew up in Pittsburgh, PA which naturally led her to being a Steelers football fan and having an immense passion for horror films. Her parents (who are also horror fanatics) met at a Halloween party! Growing up, Nancy watched horror films regularly with her dad like Alfred Hitchcock's movies and TV, "The Twilight Zone" and many vampire films, (she especially liked Bela Lugosi's Dracula). Just to name a few. The first film she saw on the big screen was "Jaws" with her dad. Nancy and her sister watched a lot of slasher films together like the "Friday the 13th" movies, "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Halloween", and the supernatural "Poltergeist" films. She and her sister read all the Stephen King novels and watched his films as well. Nancy grew up with fond memories of her younger years which cultivated a love for the horror genre.

Nancy caught the acting bug when she was six years old after portraying the "Troll" live onstage in "The Three Billy Goats Gruff". After that, the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatres became her stomping grounds from junior high through high school and early college years. In addition to taking classes on the weekends and participating in her high school drama club. Nancy spent her high school summer vacations enrolled in the college level Summer Arts Theatre program though Point Park University. When she had the chance, she jumped on the fantastic opportunity to move to London to study with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Imperial College in England. Nancy graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts from California State University, Northridge.

Nancy has taken advantage of the writing and directing classes for theatre, film, and television in Los Angeles to find a way to bring her own creative stories to light. She also delved into stand-up comedy writing and performing and toured from the West Coast to the East Coast along with writing for other comedians. Nancy has a knack, a raw talent for performing improvisation and comedy.

Nancy found great success acting in many erotic thriller films and worked almost exclusively for Playboy as an actress, through their films, TV, Radio, and of course, modeling for multiple pictorials in the magazines and videos. More recently, Nancy has appeared in the 2023 documentary film, "We Kill for Love" that goes in search of the forgotten world of the DTV erotic thriller, an American film genre that once dominated late night cable.

Nancy took acting classes from horror icon, John Amplas (Martin, Day of the Dead) at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nancy studied SFX Make-up from Greg Funk (Winner of 3 Primetime Emmys, Nominated for an Oscar) at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nancy met Heather Branch in John Amplas acting class at Point Park University. Nancy and Heather both reside in Los Angeles, CA and have produced horror movies for Dark Revenant Films.
