Yūzō Kawashima was born on 4 February 1918 in Tanabu, Aomori, Japan [now Mutsu, Aomori, Japan]. He was a director and writer, known for The Temple of Wild Geese (1962), Sun in the Last Days of the Shogunate (1957) and The Shop Curtain (1958). He died on 11 June 1963 in Tokyo, Japan.
