Dan Katzman is an accomplished First Assistant Director and Producer with more than three decades of experience in film and television production.
Raised in the Los Angeles village of Toluca Lake, Katzman grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry. His father, renowned studio and jazz musician Lee Katzman, regularly hosted musicians, actors, and industry professionals at their family home. This creative environment exposed Dan to the world of professional storytelling from an early age and helped spark his passion for filmmaking.
Dan began his career in the film industry in 1990, steadily building a reputation as a highly respected First Assistant Director, known for his leadership, organization, and ability to manage complex productions from pre-production through final wrap.
Throughout his career, Katzman has collaborated with many of the entertainment industry’s leading studios and networks, including Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, ABC, Disney, NBC Universal, USA Network, A&E Networks, and The History Channel.
Among his notable credits is the Emmy Award-winning limited series The Act, as well as the acclaimed 2016 remake of the world-renowned historical miniseries Roots for A&E Networks and The History Channel. His work spans a wide range of productions, from major studio television series to streaming platform originals.
With decades of on-set leadership and production expertise, Katzman continues to bring a deep understanding of storytelling, production logistics, and crew collaboration to every project he works on.
