He was a producer, known for Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012), Independent Lens (1999) and Robert Indiana: American Dreamer (2007). He was married to Elizabeth Segal. He died on 8 November 2017 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

He was museum administrator and director and founder. At the Met, he directed from 1980 to 1991 the office of film and television. In 1992, he founded MUSE Film and Television.
