- Worked as a rather friendly bouncer at "Catch A Rising Star" on 1st and 72nd Street, New York City in the mid to late 1970s before being discovered by Dustin Hoffman and asked to audition for a role in a play in which Hoffman was appearing at the time. His photo could be seen in the club carrying Hoffman, who was smiling in the photo.
- Has two daughters Stacy Johnson and Gwen Valon , grandson Mookie , granddaughter Malyn.
