- Aleksandr Karpov was born on January 20, 1922 in Kharinskaya, Ryazan Governorate, RSFSR [now Moscow Oblast, Russia]. He was a director and writer, known for The Trail of Thousand Versts (1968), Svadebnaya noch (1980) and Bezumnoy strastyu ty sama ko mne pylayesh (1992). He died on January 15, 1998 in Minsk, Belarus.
