Biography

Helena Kara was born on August 16, 1916 in Salo, Finland. She was an actress, known for Rosvo Roope (1949), Poikamiesten holhokki (1938) and Soita minulle, Helena! (1948). She was married to Hannu Leminen. She died on February 26, 2002 in Helsinki, Finland.

According to her, she quit acting after the dog of producer/director T.J. Särkkä bit her face, leaving a visible and permanent scar. After 1953 she declined from all publicity.

She sold tickets at a movie theater before film pioneer Risto Orko discovered her.

Made several movies together with husband Hannu Leminen.

On 1927 she changed her last name to Kara with her two brothers and a sister.

When she was young, Helena wrote letters to movie stars whom she admired. She cried when Rudolph Valentino died.
