Distantly related to the Raj Kapoor dynasty (his father is cousins with Prithviraj Kapoor).
Son of film producer Surinder Kapoor. Also has two younger brothers, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.
Was involved with Boney Kapoor in the early 80's.
He is on the governing council of Asian Academy of film and television film city noida which conducts short term and long term film courses
Has two daughters with second wife Sridevi, named after characters in his films: the eldest is named Jhanvi after the heroine in Judaai (1997), and the second is named Khushi after the heroine in Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000).
He is the board of directors at the Asian Academy of Film & TV.
Was involved with Prema Narayana and actress Nikii Waalia ( Former wife of Dan Dhanoa).
Was involved with Moushumi Chatteterji prior to the film Hum Paanch.
Was Amitabh's body double in The Great Gambler.
