Giya Kancheli was born on 10 August 1935 in Tiflis, Transcaucasian SFSR, USSR [now Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia]. He was a composer and actor, known for Kin-dza-dza! (1986), The Tree of Life (2011) and Pasport (1990). He died on 2 October 2019 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
