  • Georgi Kaloyanchev "Kalata" was born in the city on Black Sea coast Burgas in 13 January 1925. He was so unique and unrepeatable actor, best known for his appearances in comedy movies but actually he began his career as a stage actor in early 50's. Then he made his cinema debut in 1951.

  • Loved and revered by the audience, his colleagues and friends, Georgi Kaloyanchev was remarkable with his bright talent and charismatic actor's presence in theatre and cinema. Born in the city of Burgas on January 13, 1925, Kaloyanchev studied in the former theatrical school in Sofia. He starts working in the National Theatre, after which he moves to the newly established Satirical Theatre, where he put tens of outstanding performances. His debut in the cinema is in the role of Sali the Gipsy boy in "Morning Over the Motherland" (1951). There, a sequence of unforgettable roles follows: the weightlifter in "Expert in Everything", Kondov in "The Wolverine", the inspector in "The Inspector and the Night", the magician in "The Longest Night", Riksata in "The Tied Balloon", Giordano Bruno in the Italian production "Galileo Galilee", Aesop in "Aesop", and roles in more than 50 other feature films. He became nation-wide popular with a number of unforgettable characters he played in movies, but among his greatest ones remains the character of the notorious Bay Ganyo of the Aleko Konstantinovs novel. In 2003 he was awarded the Actors Union Award for life contribution. Anyway, the most valued award for Georgi Kaloyanchev is that of "People's Actor" in its real meaning - of the actor loved by all Bulgarian people for half a century. He is author of the memoirs "I'm Alive, I'm Yours" (2003). Kaloyanchev was a very versatile actor and will be remembered for both his comedy and dramatic roles.
