Johannes Kai was an author, a screenwriter and a film director. He was born on December 13, 1912 in Cairo under the name Hanns Wiedmann. In 1936 he received his doctorate phil. at the University in Munich and then wrote novels and essays with mostly military themes. Later he used the German name of his birthplace - Kairo - as inspiration for his alias Kai.
In the 1950s Johannes Kai went into screenwriting. He died in 1999, 10 days before his 87th birthday.
