She is also called one of "The Troika," along with Kim Tae-Hee and Song Hye-Kyo, collectively known by the acronym "Tae-Hye-Ji."

South Korea's Seoul is where Jun was born. Her brother is five years her senior. Because of her height and trim figure, her mother and her mother's friends urged her to pursue a career in modeling or acting. She started her career as a model for Ecole Magazine in 1997 at the age of 16, following in the footsteps of her high school senior classmate. On the advice of a producer, she made her acting debut in 1998 and took on the stage name Jun Ji-현.

Her movie debut came in White Valentine (1999). This was followed by a role in Il Mare (2000), which proved to be a success. However, Jun's biggest breakthrough was in My Sassy Girl (2001), a romantic comedy that won her the Best Actress award at the Daejong Film Festival in 2002 nonetheless sparked an international breakthrough for Korean cinema and became an enormous sensation throughout Asia. Her reputation as one of the top actresses of her generation was cemented by the movie, which gave her the title "Nation's First Love." Quotes

  • [Interview, 2015] I know how I look. So I don't mind my make-up.
  • Once you aren't wasting your time, have discovered your truest self, and have begun to really cherish yourself, whatever you do will feel genuine.
  • These days, I find happiness according to the time of day. In the morning, I'm happy when I'm sweaty after a hard workout, and I get happy again if I'm able to make it to lunchtime on an empty stomach. In the afternoon, I'm happy when I pick up my kids, play with them, give them a bath, and give them a piece of candy. At night, before I fall asleep, I feel happy as I think, 'I'm ending another day well.
  • Every week, I do Pilates three times as well as aerobics one hour before my classes. Even if I avoid other appointments, I've always tried to work out and make personal plans after I exercise. If I don't do my absolute best at everything and am not honest with myself, I cannot gain good results. Although I am not perfect now, I do think I've become more relaxed.
  • First off, you're going to have to find out who you are. That's how you know what you do and do not enjoy doing. Also, I think you have to make sure not to waste your time behaving and meeting others without purpose. Then your quality of life will improve and your self-identity will naturally become more defined.
