Biography

Wilfred Josephs was born on July 24, 1927 in Newcastle, England, UK. He was a composer and writer, known for Waterloo (1970), The Deadly Bees (1966) and The Guardians (1971). He was married to Valerie Wisbey. He died on November 17, 1997 in London, England, UK.

Was a dentist before becoming a full-time composer.

Studied at the Guildhall School of Music.

A noted composer of classical music, his works include 12 symphonies, 22 concertos, overtures, chamber music, operas and ballets.

Was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Newcastle University in 1978.

Composing may be agony at times but it's what I do best and what I want to do most, and not too many people can say they spent their life that way!
