- Jerry Jones was born on February 16, 1927 in Varner, Arkansas, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for The Long Goodbye (1973), Dolemite (1975) and Disco Godfather (1979). He died on November 18, 2012 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Currently (2005) writes and directs African-American themed plays, such as "Girl, I Knew He Was a Dog When He Barked in His Sleep" and "Queen of the Blues" (a tribute to Dinah Washington) in the Los Angeles area. Several of his plays have had successful runs at the Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood and feature up-and-coming African-American actors.
