Elvin Jones

Performed with John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, and Wardell Grey.
In 1960, he became a member of John Coltrane's quartet.
He was called by Life magazine "the world's greatest rhythmic drummer."
Formed Elvin Jones' Jazz Machine after leaving the Coltrane quartet.
He had a son and a daughter with his wife Keiko.
Inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 1991.
Brother of Hank Jones, a jazz pianist, and Thad Jones, a flugelhorn player.
