Biography

Stevie Johnson is an award-winning actor, writer, professor, and producer with over three decades of experience across stage, screen, and the classroom. A versatile performer and educator, Johnson has appeared in more than 100 commercials, films, and television shows, including The X-Files, CSI: Miami, Cold Case, The Shield, Beverly Hills 90210, JAG, and The Young and the Restless.

A native of Saint Paul, Johnson began his professional journey in law school before pivoting to pursue his passion for performance and storytelling. He earned his MFA from the USC School of Dramatic Arts, where he serves as a Professor of Theatre in Performance. His undergraduate studies included triple majors in Theatre, Speech, and Rhetoric, laying the foundation for a career that bridges law, communication, and the arts.

As a TV writer and producer, Johnson has worked with high-profile talent including Jennifer Lopez, Robert De Niro, Idris Elba, LL Cool J, Sally Kirkland, Joe Pesci, and Eric André. His creative and educational contributions have reached diverse audiences-from coaching trial attorneys on stage presence at the Guthrie Theatre to teaching public speaking to non-actors through his USC course Public Speaking as Performance.

In addition to his extensive acting work, Johnson is a certified practitioner of Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP), a method he incorporates into his teaching to deepen the mind-body connection in performance. A former DJ and marathon runner, he has performed at Minneapolis's iconic First Avenue and even appeared as an extra in Purple Rain.

With over 31 years of collegiate teaching experience, Johnson continues to inspire the next generation of artists, speakers, and change-makers at USC and beyond.
