A fan of the TV series Gunsmoke (1955), she felt personally betrayed when she discovered that series star James Arness was a Republican.

Pictured on a nondenominated ('forever') USA commemorative postage stamp issued 30 November 2012. The stamp was one of six issued on a souvenir sheet; the other five stamp designs were similar to the Beautification of America stamps issued in the 1960s. The original issue price of the sheet was $2.70 (45¢ per stamp).
