Biography

Garry Johnson was born on November 19, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was an actor and composer, known for Purple Rain (1984), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Mo' Money (1992). He died on November 21, 2025 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA.

Is not to be confused with fellow musician/producer Jellybean Benítez, often known as simply "Jellybean".

In 2022 he founded the Minneapolis Sound Museum.

Graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Attended Marshall University High School in Minneapolis.
