Made headlines in Norwegian tabloid-papers when he appeared in a chicken-costume and disturbed a news reporter in rival channel TV2 in 2002.

The above mentioned chicken-stunt was ment as a critical commentary on the press who had hounded former prime minister Thorbjørn Jagland to the brink of collapse. When the same reporters then were flocking outside the hospital trying to act worried, reporting on the condition of the man they indirectly put in hospital, Tufte Johansen (working for channel NRK) thought it would be a fitting statement disturbing the live broadcast of rival network TV2: dressed as a chicken, he clucked and mocked the reporter who clearly lost her grip in front of one million TV viewers. The head of the NRK network quickly raced down to the office of TV2 and appologized for Tufte Johansen's stunt. The leader of the Norwegian Journalist's Union commented that Tufte Johansen should be ashamed of himself. The next day Tufte Johansen fired back on his show "Åpen post" with the following: "And that's coming from a man who heads a union of people who should be ashamed from the moment they get up in the morning till they go to bed at night!"

Is a big fan of the Norwegian soccer team, Odd Grenland.
